Impacto de los Flujos Externos del Sector Primario sobre la manufactura Ecuatoriana: evidencia empírica de la enfermedad Holandesa

Resumen
Esta investigación analiza la relación dinámica entre el sector extractivo y la manufactura en Ecuador durante el periodo 2000–2024, utilizando un modelo VAR que incluye exportaciones de petróleo, inversión minera, gasto público y el índice de tipo de cambio efectivo real. Los resultados muestran que la manufactura tiene una notable autonomía estructural, explicando cerca del 80% de su propia variabilidad a largo plazo. Sin embargo, las funciones de impulso-respuesta indican que los choques de las exportaciones petroleras y la inversión minera tienen efectos contractivos moderados y duraderos en el sector manufacturero. Además, la descomposición de varianza reveló que el gasto público es el principal canal externo que afecta a la industria, mientras que las variables del sector extractivo tienen un impacto limitado. Por lo tanto, no se encontró evidencia de una desindustrialización estructural predominante, aunque sí se observó una vulnerabilidad cíclica de la manufactura ante choques externos y fiscales.
