Strategies to improve competitiveness in the associations of potato producers in the Bolivar canton, province of Carchi.

Abstract

This study focuses on improving competitiveness within potato producer associations in Bolívar canton, Carchi province. The objective was to identify and characterize the existing associations, evaluate the factors that influence their competitiveness and propose opportunities for improvement. For this purpose, structured surveys were conducted and relevant documentation was reviewed. The results indicated that factors such as potato quality, technological innovation in the crop and expansion into new markets are essential to increase competitiveness. Based on these results, a strategy is proposed that prioritizes quality and innovation, including R&D, technology adoption and quality certification. The findings emphasize stable government policies and the development of new means of distribution to ensure the sustainability of partnerships. The research highlights the need to understand and address the challenges faced by producer associations. Despite natural resources and agricultural potential, it is crucial to develop effective strategies to optimize resources and capacities, foster cooperation with alliances, and ensure sustainable development. This paper provides a detailed analysis of the current situation and also offers practical recommendations to strengthen the positioning of associations.
