Comparative analysis of fundraising and placement of funds in segment 1 cooperatives in Ecuador during two quarters of the year 2024
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents a comparative analysis of fund gathering and placement in segment 1 savings and credit cooperatives in Ecuador during the two quarters of 2024, with the objective of understanding their evolution and relationship in the financial context of the popular and solidarity sector, through a descriptive-comparative quantitative research, using secondary data obtained from the Superintendencia de Economía Popular y Solidaria (Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy). The results show that time deposits are the main fund-raising mechanism, reflecting a preference of users for options of greater security and return. On the other hand, the resources placed, although showing monthly fluctuations, remain at competitive levels, suggesting a strategic management of the cooperatives in the face of market demands. A limited correlation was observed between deposits and placements, which could indicate independent financial dynamics or internal adjustments in credit policies. These findings reinforce the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure the sustainability of the sector. In conclusion, the study evidences the relevance of time deposits as a key tool for the financial stability of cooperatives and highlights the need for innovative strategies to optimize fundraising and placement of resources for the benefit of the solidarity economy.
