Informality and Service Quality in Urban Public Transportation Outside Mall Plaza

Abstract

The study analyzed the relationship between informality and service quality in urban public transportation outside Mall Plaza, Trujillo. Its purpose was to determine whether informality significantly influences the perception of service quality in this area. An explanatory and cross-sectional approach was employed, using surveys administered to 350 users. The evaluated dimensions included tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, safety, and empathy. The results revealed that both service quality and informality are perceived as average by users. The correlation between the two variables was very weak, suggesting a minimal impact of informality on the perception of service quality. This finding supported the null hypothesis, as no significant relationship was identified between the analyzed variables. In conclusion, users do not establish a notable connection between the formality of transportation and service quality, indicating that other factors may be more relevant to the user experience. These results provide a relevant perspective for proposing strategies to improve public transportation, focusing on aspects other than informality.
