Effect of organizational culture on the performance of flower farms in Cayambe and Pedro Moncayo

Abstract
Low productivity in some flower farms in the province of Pichincha has highlighted the need to understand the impact of organizational culture on business performance. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between organizational culture and organizational performance in companies dedicated to flower cultivation and export. A mixed-methods, non-experimental, cross-sectional research design was applied. The sample included 210 operational and administrative workers and 42 executives from 80 farms located in the cantons of Cayambe and Pedro Moncayo. Instruments based on the OCAI model and the rational goals performance framework were used. Results showed that the hierarchical culture is predominant, while the Clan culture is most desired by employees. A significant cultural misalignment was found, negatively affecting organizational congruence. The rational goals model best explained organizational performance, emphasizing productivity, profitability, and efficiency. The study concludes that congruence between current and desired culture has a positive relationship with organizational performance, reinforcing the importance of cultural alignment as a key strategy to enhance performance in the flower sector.
