Malpractice in strength training and nutritional counseling: a latent risk for injuries and overweight
Main Article Content
Abstract
Incorrect practices in the prescription and performance of strength training exercises, have become a health concern of great importance. These practice increase the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and can also lead to body related problems. The purpose of this article was to analyze and organize the existing scientific evidence on how the lack of professional supervision, technical errors in strength training and non personalized nutritional recommendations can negatively affect one’s health. A descriptive literature review was conducted, based on the research and critical analysis of scientific studies published between 2020 and 2025 in recognized academic databases such as PubMed, Scorpus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, ResearchGate and Mendeley. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 20 studies were selected for analysis. These findings show that the absence of professional supervision in strength training can directly be associated with a higher risk of injuries. With this, inadequate nutritional guidance contributes to energy imbalance, increased body fat and metabolic alterations. In conclusion, combining properly supervised strength training and personalized nutrition is essential to support overall health and prevent physical and metabolic harm.
