Failures in digital traceability of the supply chain and their impact on quality control

Abstract
Digital transformation has reshaped supply chain management, positioning digital traceability as a key element to ensure quality and efficiency; however, structural failures persist and affect its performance, which motivates this study aimed at analyzing such failures and their impact on quality control. The research was conducted through a systematic literature review using a qualitative approach, applying selection, filtering, and analysis criteria to relevant scientific sources published between 2019 and 2026. The results show that data fragmentation, low interoperability, and lack of standardization generate inconsistencies in information, hinder defect identification, and increase operational costs. In addition, these failures raise operational risk and negatively affect organizational efficiency. From an analytical perspective, the findings are interpreted as a consequence of deficiencies in information management and technological integration, limiting the ability of organizations to respond effectively to process failures. In conclusion, digital traceability emerges as a strategic component whose proper implementation enhances quality control, reduces risks, and strengthens business competitiveness.
