Abstract

The present study entitled "Analysis of the economic impact caused by bud rot (Phytophthora palmivora) in oil palm production in the La Unión Recinto Azuay Parish" aims to determine the economic impact of bud rot disease on oil palm production in the area and propose measures to minimize the economic impact of the disease. Bud rot disease, caused by the fungus Phytophthora palmivora, is one of the main diseases affecting oil palm production in the area and has had a significant impact on the local economy. The study found that the disease has affected the productivity of oil palm crops, leading to a decrease in production and a decrease in producers' income. Additionally, the study identified several preventive and control measures that can help minimize the impact of bud rot disease on oil palm production, including the implementation of proper management practices and crop diversification. The study also highlights the importance of collaboration among producers, institutions, and field experts to effectively address bud rot disease.
